I liked The Facts in the Case of Mr.Valdemar and Fall into the Maelstrom. The former is the story of a man hypotized before death. I want to know why he became yellow liquid. And the latter is the story of a man fell into the Maelstrom. I thoght the life of the man after return from sea was strange. I liked "The pit and the pendulum" the best. A man seemed to be in a jail and was going to be tortured. A scythe was swinging above him and it was aproaching him. As I thought, he cut the rope which tied him to a board with the scythe and he could escape. But, were I him, I could escape much easer. His hands were free!. At first, THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM is that a prisoner wakes up to find himself in a dark cell. Sencond, THE GOLD BUG is that a golden insect leads to an incredible discovery.Third, THE FACTS IN THE CASE OF MR VALDEMAR is that a patient is hypnotized minutes before he dies, and so on.
Third story is not only serious but also interesting! I wondered if he is really dead. I don't like horror stories, but I could read this story. ( )
