Interesting concept that tells of life on earth at the beginning of homo sapiens dominance. There are the Kin (Homo Sapiens) and then there are the more chimpanzee like other races (like the Marsh people) who cannot talk but have enough intelligence to change their environment. Ko is one of the young boys on the kin; too young to hunt with the men and frustrated that he cannot help his tribe in these difficult times( drought = little food, water). The Kin move from their normal place in search of food, but discover the way to distant mountains blocked by swamp grounds and a huge crocodile. Can Ko find a way across and what part will he play in defeating the huge monster that has claimed one of the Kin already? Fascinating. ( )
