Another entertaining (albeit unlikely) addition to the Alger oeuvre. This one has Robert Rushton engaged in a lot of far-fetched scenarios, from defending a miser to saving a train to journeying all the way to Calcutta (with a bit of an unscheduled detour). Although the plot is a bit out there, it diverges from what, up to this point, has become very formulaic. I enjoyed it. ( )
