This was my 2nd Estleman western and it was another well researched western with believable characters and a decent plot. ( ) In 1847, Deputy Page Murdock is sent into Montana’s Bitterroot Mountains. He quickly finds himself diverted from his original assignment to hunt down Bear Anderson. Although Bear’s one-man campaign of vengeance against the Flathead Indians has been silently applauded, President Grant now hopes to prevent a war which the Flatheads promise will come if Bear is not stopped. The strong characters driving the story include Native Americans, African Americans, and a smattering of white settlers. Only Murdock seems to rise above prejudice and focuses on serving justice. He is a hero in a bleak time, a stark place, and under impossible circumstances. Estleman’s writing brings not only her characters to life, but also brings to life the landscape and historical pressures through which they travel. High Rocks.doc sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
