She gets a call to take care of a cat in 20 minutes. Never mind that Alice does not board cats in her loft apartment. Alice runs down to the curb as an old time Bentley pulls up. A door opens, as woman and cat carrier are kicked out of the car. The chauffeur then proceeds to shot the woman in the head and drive off. Alice calls the cops as a tourist films the whole thing, which consequently makes it onto the news broadcast. Later, Alice realizes that there is $2500 taped to the bottom of what turned out to be a toy cat in the carrier. Alice decides to do some sleuthing after she gets a call from a stranger with information on the death. Thank goodness this was a short 2 hour read. It was poorly written. The characters were very two dimensional (maybe the reader needs to read earlier books in the series?) There were so many loose ends and a quickly and quirky end to the story. I was not impressed, and was frankly bored to tears. ( ) This was given to me with the words, "quick and fun". Yup. It's an Alice Nestleton mystery, with a likable character for a lead. She's asked to cat-sit for an outrageous amount of money. Sounds too good to be true, and it is. She's faced with a murder committed on her doorstep, which of course needs solving right away. It was a light read, nothing too taxing, yet enjoyable and a fun little romp. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Pertenece a las series
Actress, catsitter and amateur sleuth Alice Nestleton finds her summer doldrums melting away like ice cubes on a sidewalk with a shocking murder that happens right on her doorstep. The victim? Mary Singer, the very woman who hired Alice to catsit. The murderer? The chauffeur of Mary's Rolls Royce, who shoots his employer before Alice's unbelieving eyes. But when Alice opens the cat carrier to check on the now orphaned feline, all she finds is an odd toy cat on wheels. Now why would anyone pay $2,500 for someone to watch a stuffed animal? With Pancho and Bushy, her new friend Sam Tully, and a Bengal cat in tow, Alice has a lot of ground to cover to trap a clever killer. ? This is the third hardcover in this successful series ? Includes 12 line drawings of cats, an extra treat for cat lovers ? Scheduled to coincide with Signet publication of A Cat on a Beach Blanket No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
