This book is dedicated to the four generations of my family who from the 1830s helped to build Missouri. I thin especially of my great great grandparents Blank, Groenemann, Kloecker, and Nagel, my great grandfather, Konrad Johannes Nagel (1826-1903), my grandfather, Gottlieb Johann Nagel (1869-1953), and my father, Paul Conrad Nagel (1899-1965).
