Mary is so nurturing - this lamb that resembles the toddlers in the audience is well cared for. ( ) "Mary Had a Little Lamb" is about a caring little girl named Mary, who has a pet lamb that follows her everywhere, including school. The lamb follows the Mary to school one day and is very playful and exciting until the lamb gets put outside by Mary's teacher. The lamb does not run away though, instead he waits for Mary to get out of school to go home. She loves the lamb and gives it a lot of care and affection. I always admired this book because I always felt like I could relate to the little girl, Mary because I too had a pet dog who would follow me everywhere and wait on me to get home from school at the end of my very long drive way. She would wait there and walk me all the way to the house. She was my best friend even though she was a dog. I feel like this book teaches kids about friendship and what it takes to be a faithful and loving friend and it can also help children learn how to be a nurturing and faithful owner to a pet. In a classroom I would use this book to teach children the rhyme and I could also use it to make a craft activity by making our own lambs with cotton balls. Mary had a Little Lamb is a classic story about a young girl who has a lamb as a pet. This story takes a little different approach to what Mary’s lamb does when Mary goes off to school. The playful adventure that the lamb has is quite entertaining and ends only when Mary arrives home from school finding him covered in mud. This was a wonderful surprise to a very familiar tale. I completely expected the lamb to “follow her to school one day.” I was completely taken off guard when that is not at all what happened. It was fun to read in the same rhyming verse as the original song and fit the turn perfectly. I can’t wait to read this one to the class next week. I bet they won’t be able to guess what that little lamb gets in to next. 1. This would be a perfect book to teach students how to take a classic tale and re-write the ending. 2. A great story about friendship and forgiveness since Mary never gets upset with the lamb. 3. This is another fun story where the students could extend the tale by adding to the events that take place during the day while Mary is at school in the same poetic verse. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
