This is not a great work of literature - but it is solidly written, has interesting characters, turns stereotypes into something a bit more 3-D. Its a perfect Sunday afternoon read. As for this book in the rest of the series - it doesn't stand up. At times, the plot doesn't make sense in terms of motivation. Things aren't explained (like why the zombies wants brains) but for the most part, these don't matter. Its a book that is suppose to be dark, gritty, and totally over the top. This was probably my least favorite of these so far. It just never really coheres - there are two mysteries that turn out to be completely unrelated except by physical proximity, and while the zombies are tolerably entertaining for the twenty pages they're actually on screen, the other villain is just cringeworthy. It doesn't move the series along at all, doesn't have a particularly satisfying ending, and is just a little more coated in male-gaze ick than I am willing to tolerate. Felix Gomez is a vampire detective who investigates a recent zombie appearance. Along the way he meets some interesting characters, including an ill teenager who wishes to become a vampire. This is a well written, humorous, interesting story that takes a walk a bit away from the beaten path. Enjoyable read. I will be looking for other books in the series. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

"[Acevedo] manages to update vampire lore in clever and imaginative ways." --El PasoTimes If you haven't yet encountered Gulf War veteran-turned-vampire private eye Felix Gomez, then now is the time!Jailbait Zombie--the fourth in author Mario Acevedo's outrageously original dark fantasy p.i. series--pits the undead against the living dead, as vampires meet zombies for a no-holds-barred beatdown. As dark, sexy, funny, and endearingly strange as Acevedo's previous vampiric excursions--Nymphos of Rocky Flats, X-Rated Bloodsuckers, and Undead Kama Sutra--Jailhouse Zombie is more of the top-shelf bloody madness that inspired Tim "Nuclear Jellyfish" Dorsey to comment that Mario Acevedo "is a very disturbed man--and I mean that in the absolute finest sense of the term." Felix Gomez may seen a bit cowardly at times but, what happen to him in the past explains why the way he is. There are some funny moments throughout the story. The part with the mad scientist is the best part.
I like what is done with the world, just tossing in all these paranormal creature as well as aliens. Might as well. This remains me of the TV show the X-files. Only the main character is a vampire detective.
