We have to appreciate our military who leave family behind in the states to serve in dangerous territory and sometimes don't come back or come back wounded. I think this book made me feel more for our soldiers, both men and women, and what they sacrifice. All in all, it wasn't a bad story, but I wasn't as into the romance as much as I would expect for a book labeled as such. ( )

Caitlyn Villard suddenly becomes a Mom to her twin 5 year old nieces, when their parents are killed overseas serving their country. So she must trade her New York City job as a lawyer and move to Prairie Springs, Texas, the military town she had left long ago. Learning to love these two girls is easy, but learning how to let go and let God have control of her life is not. Army chaplain Steve Windham steps in to help her, but he himself has issues from his past that he needs to let go of also. Sometimes you find your dreams coming true in the last place you expected.

This was a quick read and enjoyable. But it also makes one stop and think and be thankful for the men and women who fight for our freedom. Some who give their lives and some who stay behind and try to help people "pick up the pieces" when tragedy strikes. Looking forward to reading more in this "Homecoming Heroes" series (each book written by a different author). ( )
