Separate from theGovernmentOutside the policeBeyond the United Nations... Founded by Queen Victoria in 1879, the Torchwood Institute has long battled against alien threats to the British Empire - work done in secret, under the cover of darkness. But once in a while, an outsider will find something out about this covert organisation, and Torchwood Archives offers a rare glimpse into what was almost one of Torchwood's most serious breaches of security: an expose that never saw the light of day. Until now. These previously unpublished writings of investigative journalist Warren Martyn provide in-depth background on Torchwood personnel, case files on alien enemies of the Crown and descriptions of extra-terrestrial technology collected over the years, uncovering more about the world of Torchwood than ever previously known. Sylak: Although quite different in style; one being a factual inside story to the new Doctor Who series, the other a scrapbook based on fictional research material illegally obtained from Torchwood 3, the shared universe they reside in makes them complementary.
This book consists of a scrapbook of hand written notes and illegally procured material in the form of private emails and archive photos stolen from the Torchwood archives, some time during 2009, when a journalist and self proclaimed ufologist by the name of Warren Martyn smuggled himself into Torchwood 3 by hiding in the back of an SUV being driven by Captain Jack and Ianto Jones. This massive collection of material covers the origins of the organisation from Torchwood House in Scotland, formally belonging to the McLeish family, through to the formation of Torchwood under Queen Victoria, and the destruction of the Torchwood Institute in London's Docklands. There are profiles of Torchwood 3 staff as well as information on people known to have been connected with Torchwood over the years. The rest of the file, under the proposed title 'Investigating Torchwood - Research collection & notes', which was due to have been published by Tower Books (now out of business), supplies an average of four pages per incident beginning with 'Everything Changes', up to 'Lost Souls'. Thank goodness this information has been repatriated back into the safe hands of Ianto Jones and never got published!
Please note that this book must not be removed from the Basement at the Hub in Cardiff! ( )
Wonderful fictional expose of Torchwood recapping the series so far from brief mentions in Doctor Who all the way to mentions of Children of Earth. Recommended. ( )
