I love all of the interesting and fun facts they use to teach kids new information. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in volcanoes or geology. ( ) The National Geographic Kids reader the Volcanoes! By Anne Schreiber is a great read about Volcanoes. It shares with the reader all sorts of volcano facts as well as the different types of volcanoes around the world. It really engages the reader and peaks their interest. A few of the things I love about the book format itself are how they introduce the reader to informational features of text. They start the read off with a table of contents, so kids can get an overview of the book and what information will be presented on what page. Then then throughout the book their is subtitles and visual supports (pictures) for the facts and information. There is also definitions of vocabulary words in a box on each page one a new word is introduced. The book also does a great job of taking the information and making connections to the world. This makes the information real and meaningful to the reader. To top it all off, the author also has questions he asks the reader on just about every page. This gets kids thinking and apply the information they are learning. Overall, this book is a great read for an strong 2nd grade reader or a 3rd grader. I like the facts and information presented and it gives a whole picture of the science behind volcanoes. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
