More fun than [b:Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency|365|Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (Dirk Gently 1)|Douglas Adams|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51KTBFRE8DL._SL75_.jpg|1042123]. ( ) I used to be obsessed with Greek mythology, and would sometimes think, "What if the Greeks were right, and everything is run by gods who are barely different than people?" This book takes it to the next logical level: if the gods of mythology really exist, how the hell would they cope in today's world? Update: Second time around is as good as the first. 3.5* This was entertaining but the mystery aspect was weak - basically just an excuse for Dirk Gently to be involved in the story. Dirk was never a nice person but he seems worse in this book than he did in the previous one - making the nonappearance of his friends from the first book understandable. This book is what I wanted American Gods to be. You’re dealing with silly material, allow the story to be silly. The gods themselves certainly won’t be. Dirk Gently is a most interesting detective: smart and bumbling, he recognizes connections but doesn’t know why. The first three-quarters are fantastic, but it falls apart a bit toward the end. Adams seems to have remembered he needs to publish this book and he doesn’t care much for books over 300 pages. I felt a bit like Dirk at the end: seeing the connections but not quite understanding why they were there. But what a brilliant gags are the Coke machine and fridge. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

When a check-in desk at London's Heathrow Airport disappears in a ball of orange flame, the event is said to be an act of God. But which god? wonders holistic detective Dirk Gently. And how is this connected to Dirk's battle with his cleaning lady over his filthy refrigerator ... or to the murder of his latest client? Or are these events just another stretch of coincidences in the life of the world's most off-kilter private investigator? No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
