This book has a great introoduction that discusses the interesting and prominent role of women in Aztec mythology. The illustrations are by 16th century Aztec artists. Read the story of the Fifth Sun. It is the most prominent Aztec creation myth. It also has some really interesting life lessons that pertain to the Aztec culture at that time. WOULD WORK WELL WITH A UNIT ON THE AZTEC CIVILIZATION OR FOR DISCUSSING ALTERNATIVE, NON-EUROPEAN RELIGIONS AND UNDERSTANDINGS OF THE UNIVERSE.
