Highly influential and sought after, Powers' surreal paperback covers are some of the greatest (and most seen) of contemporary art. Conversely, Philip K.Dick refers to them as 'peeled eyeball covers' (see the cover to 'The Man in the High Castle'), and Ray Bradbury didn't have much use for Powers' style of surrealism on his covers (he preferred the Weird Tales effect of Joe Mugnaini).
