Didn't finish this one. I loved the illustration and have enjoyed other books by Eleanor Estes. I just couldn't get into this. I got to page 100, but my stack is too tall and I just didn't want to spend more time in this world. Maybe another time. ( )

Used to get this out of the library when I was a child. Have been using www.biblio.co.uk to re-read some old favourites that stuck in my memory. It didn't disappoint but it's too twee in style to satisfy and the author seems completely unconscious of the dark emotional depths that lie below. Interesting how the only male character is the bumblebee Malachi.... fertile ground for a book discussion group. ( )
