When Jane Webster sells her house in Melbourne and takes her four children out of school to move to a grand but neglected chateau in Normandy, she isn't sure how they will adapt to their new French lives. But soon enough, the family is immersed in the tiny village of Bosgouet, embracing the unhurried pace and seasonal rhythmns of rural France. There is a new language to learn, new friends to make and a whole region - from Paris to Rouen and Deauville - to discover. Restoring the cheateau to its former glory also gives Jane the opportunity to fulfil her lifelong dream of establishing a cookery school. With an abundance of fresh produce at hand and the advice of local traiteursand chefs, Jane brings the flavours of Normandy to life at her table. Filled with exquisite photography, recipes and stories, At my French Tablecaptures the simple pleasures of family life in a beautiful corner of France.… (más)

Tons of photos and many recipes combine to form a memoir of how Jane Webster (an Australian, wife, mother, chef, Francophile, and entrepreneur) bought an old château in France with her husband in 2005 and moved her family of four young children to the tiny village of Bosgouet in Normandy. They restored the historic 72-room château with the goal of establishing a cookery school, which they opened soon after.

Coincidentally, before I read this book, we had been traveling in the heart of Normandy, and had recently visited several of the towns Jane lovingly describes. That made reading this book all the more enjoyable. But whether or not you’ve been there, this book will make you feel as if you are traveling in the area and visiting Château de Bosgouet. And it’s made me want to investigate her classes and consider spending time with Jane at her French table, where her dreams became reality. ( )

This is a delicious book about an Australian woman and her family who relocate to France and restore a Chateau with the aim of running French Cooking classes there. It is a mouth-watering book and when you finish you may feel slightly dissastisfied with your life! ( )
