The past kept haunting her...  Josh Bryant was back in tiny Wolf Creek. Which meant tour guide Tessa McAllister now had more to fear than drought, wildfire and underhanded rivals. Years ago the handsome photojournalist had broken her heart, leaving her with a secret to harbor alone. And now he was back in her town. Distracting her. Making her remember what they'd shared. But someone was watching them, waiting for the moment to strike. Someone dead-set on destroying their hope for a second chance.  Snow Canyon Ranch: Sinister family secrets lurk in the majestic Wyoming Rockies.… (más)

I liked it a little better than Leigh's story "Vendetta" which I read not long ago. There certainly seems to be no end to the people who want to hurt the McAllister family--apparently mostly based on Claire's actions in the past--except they're not targeting Claire, they're targeting her daughters, or in this case Claire's ranch (which is now Tessa's ranch).

I guessed what had happened to Tessa (with regard to Josh) long before it was revealed in the book.

I didn't guess who was behind the vandalism and other acts at the ranch until it was revealed--mostly because the culprits come out of nowhere and weren't really named characters in the book until close to their reveal. I did make the mistake of reading the discussion questions when partway through the book and those do reveal one of the culprits, though I didn't see as much animosity there as I would have expected given the way the question was worded. God's mercy is so abundant, and His love for us so great, that while we were spiritually dead in our disobedience He brought us to life with Christ.

Many, many thanks to Lyn Cote, for her support, advice and friendship. You are such a blessing in my life!

Heartfelt thanks to my husband and children, whose patience and understanding have helped me pursue my dreams . . . and to my dear mother, Arline who encouraged those dreams from the very beginning.

And as always, to Johanna raisanen and Krista Stroever, the wonderful editors who made this series possible!

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Many thanks to Brian Rustand, whose love of fly-fishing, high adventure sports and the Tetons provided me with wonderful research material. Thanks also to Wally Lind, Senior Crime Scene Analyst (retired), and Phyllis Middleton, for invaluable information on fingerprints and crime scene assessment. Any errors are entirely my own. Continuing thanks to Lyn Cote, Diane Palmer, Pam NIssen and Jacquie Greenfield. And finally, thanks to author Jennifer AlLee, who helped me find the perfect name for the injured dog in this story!

Somewhere ahead, a branch rustled. Pebbles clattered down a rocky slope.
Tessa McAllister reined her horse to a stop, settling him with a calm hand at his neck. He blew hard through his nostrils, his muscles tense as he edged sideways on the narrow trail.
Around the next bend, she remembered, the path widened as it crossed a lane leading to an isolated cabin, then it disappeared into a heavy stand of pines. Early evening was prime time for wildlife activity, and there could be anything lurking just out of sight.
