I've read reviews by women saying that they related to Natalie and her thought process, and I felt the same. I'm a man, though, so it seems weird that I could relate to the troubled mind of an adolescent girl. Well, I am who I am, or who I have been. Anyway, it was somehow comforting. I know--really weird. The first time I started reading this book, I didn't care for it, and stopped about a third of the way through. But, it kept calling from the shelf, and I picked it up again and started over. Couldn't put it down. I reread it a year later. It's a masterful novel of wonderful prose. I shall read it again. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

HTML:Shirley Jackson's chilling second novel, based on her own experiences and an actual mysterious disappearance Seventeen-year-old Natalie Waite longs to escape home for college. Her father is a domineering and egotistical writer who keeps a tight rein on Natalie and her long-suffering mother. When Natalie finally does get away, however, college life doesnâ??t bring the happiness she expected. Little by little, Natalie is no longer certain of anythingâ??even where reality ends and her dark imaginings begin. Chilling and suspenseful, Hangsaman is loosely based on the real-life disappearance of a Bennington College sophomore in 1946.
