In the distant future a remnant of humanity lives aboard a large spaceship with virtually no supervision by Authority. Various sectors of the ship are run by the strongest local denizens; the rest make accomodations with the strong, one way or another.

Our protagonist Spar has lost his teeth, the use of his eyes, and his memories of the past. He gets by doing menial tasks at a bar that serves up the various intoxicants that keep depressing reality at bay. Yet he yearns to remember, and see (and chew for that matter). Into his life pops a talking cat and the promise of a favor returned...

Ship of Shadows is imaginative. atmospheric and uses symbolism effectively. I liked it. ( )
