Twenty-first century and 13 years since this book was written and THINGS ARE ACTUALLY GETTING WORSE FOR WOMEN. ( ![]() This is a great read for someone who has just taken their first women's studies course or your little cousin who is just starting to think about feminism. If you have any kind of background knowledge, this may be something that is too elementary. The book presents a lot of really important & basic double standards, but I can't say I read anything new. With sass, humor, and in-your-face facts, this book informs and equips women with the tools they need to combat sexist comments, topple ridicuous stereotypes (girls aren't good at math?), and end the The short essay style of the book really makes for super quick reading, and I can imagine it’d be good if you wanted to pick something up and just read 1 or 2 “chapters” at a time. As expected, it was all very basic feminist principles. I did not learn any new theory, but I did enjoy some related anecdotes that Valenti provided to illustrate her points.
