The timechart is based on an original Victorian wall chart, published in 1890. It follows the entire history of mankind and shows what was happening concurrently around the world with illustrations of many major events, discoveries and prominent people. While maintaining the Victorian design, the chart has been updated and extended so that the time stream continues into the twenty first century, right up to the present day. There are maps and charts, and on the reverse of the timechart there is a vast store of extra information on the different nations' rulers and dynasties.… (más)

The Time Chart History of the World by David Gibbons is an edition filled with charts. It covers 6,000 years of world history, provides thousands of facts, dates, and other interesting data that are presented chronologically. It shows the rise of great empires, rulers, kings, and queens from biblical times to the 20th century. It’s a book filled with illustrations that captures an overview of the rise and fall of many civilizations. It’s based on the Victorian wall chart with much material especially reproduced from the British Library held in the British Museum, London.
Included in this chart are major countries of the world from Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Americas. But what appealed most to this reviewer was the presentation on the United States of America. In this edition there was a list and pictures of American presidents from 1789 to 2005 - George Washington to George W. Bush. Major wars and battles fought by America are highlighted from the War of Independence to the terrorists’ attack on“9/11” in 2001 of the World Trade Center in New York where over 3,000 people died. Also outlined was the constitution of the United States and the amendments that followed. Attached too, was a list of America’s 50 states with flags. ( )

An updated version of a classic (Wallchart), the typeset has been totally redone, new stuff added to the front and back. But they only updated it halfway. If you're going to redo the type, add stuff to the backside, and throw in some evolution (the original was slavishly Ussherite), why not update the historical material? (The ancient history stuff, till you get to Persia, is basically late 19th century history bunk, now.) Still neat. (This copy has been cut from its binding and posted on the wall outside my office.) While it is a pretty clumsy size book, a lot of information is packed into a small space. Fun to dip into.
