Andy Shane chose Egypt as the his country for a school project, but Dolores Starbuckle also wanted to do a report on Egypt. Dolores tried to convince Andy to be his partner by writing notes in hieroglyphics, dancing like an Egyptian, and constructing pineapple pyramids for him, but he still wasn't convinced. When Andy was called in front of the class to show what he had created for his project he didn't have anything; however, Dolores had been collecting the drawings that he was creating for his project. She was able to help him by showing the class what they had been working on and they became partners after all. The school Culture Fair is coming up, and Andy Shane has to pick an African country to learn about. Deciding isn't easy for Andy, so he's glad when Granny Webb gives him a scarab beetle, which he knows is a symbol of Egypt. But when Andy tries to tell Ms. Janice, Dolores Starbuckle springs up with her gold jewelry and glitter sandals and claims that she is the queen of Egypt. Dolores always gets her way, but this time Andy doesn't feel like caving in. What will it take for him to share his project with the bossy queen? Fans of the endearing Andy Shane will be happy to see him holding his own in his new early-chapter-book adventure. Today's the start of the Culture Fair project. Each student in Ms. Janice's class will do a project related to an African country. When Ms. Janice didn't hear Andy's say "Egypt," Delores Starbuckle does her best to answer for him (and change his choice). In the process she announces to the class that she is the Queen of Egypt, and is left having to persuade Andy that they can work together. Andy needs time to think about it. This early reader chapter book offers a humorous story about friendship, passion, and school projects! We enjoyed reading this book. Andy and Delores are typical kids, without being caricatures or stereotypes. Although This is part of the Andy Shane series, this was our first title and we didn't feel "lost." Andy Shane selects Egypt as the topic of his first-ever Culture Fair project, but the very bossy Dolores Starbuckle declares that she is the Queen of Egypt and does not give him a moment's peace until he agrees to let her work with him. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
