I just finished reading this book and I have so many thoughts lingering in my head right now. When i first stumbled upon this book while browsing through Barnes and Noble online, i actually thought that this would turn out to be a pretty interesting book....needless to say... i was wrong. Megan Fletcher is the Ugly Duckling and her Sister Lucy Fletcher is the beautiful perfect Swan of Chesapeake School of Performing Arts. While Megan is a tech student, who knows how to design sets and set up the stage for plays, Lucy is a Drama Major who is the queen of the stage and enchants everyone with her beauty and acting abilities. Everyone loves to be around her and appreciates her presence while Megan only observes from the shadows, wishing that she could have a life like her Sister's, wishing that she wasn't fat or Ugly. Her best friend Simon is the only one who has been there for Megan, the only one who enjoys her company and presence. After all what are best friends for? The story starts with Megan and Simon preparing the Gym for the Fall Festival, a.k.a homecoming dance which Lucy is in charge of, making sure everything is prepared. Then Drew Reynolds shows up, the "love" of Megan's life whom she has secretly adored since her Freshman year from a distance. He suggest that Megan goes to the dance, in which she decides that she wants to go, when she has never bothered going in previous years. She asks Simon to accompany her at the dance and her Sister Lucy suggest they go dress shopping. When the night of the dance arrives, Megan feels confident that she might enjoy herself, despite the fact that she struggled finding a dress that fits (Which turns out the dress she wears doesn't fit) When Megan decides to go to the bathroom, she overhears her sister talking horrible things about her to her friends. Calling her a poor thing, ugly, and feeling sorry for her. This causes Megan to run out and she doesn't stop until she is out of the school. The night has turn into a rainy one and Megan's hair and dress is ruined but she doesn't care. Then a pair of bright lights appear and everything goes dark. Megan wakes up, barely conscious in a Hospital with her sister crying over her, saying sorry many times but everything goes dark again. It turns out Megan got hit by a car and her face is completely disfigured. Cosmetic Surgery is required to help reconstruct her face. After a 10 month absent from school, Megan returns as a completely different person on the outside. She has lost weight, her face is completely new and everyone is in awe of her, especially Drew Reynolds. All of a sudden Megan is popular and everyone wants to get to know her. She might have a chance at getting together with Drew, except Lucy seems to have a thing for him. And so begins a rather silly story of sibling rivalry, lust, and stupidness. I could not stand Megan's character! I admit i did feel bad for her in the beginning because of how small she felt compared to her radiant sister but after she got her face fixed and went back to school she kept making a lot of stupid mistakes because of Drew. I would not call it a healthy crush, more like lust. It was also a bit obvious that Drew was playing with Lucy and Megan's head. I was really hoping for this story to be good but it was just...eh... sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Transformed by cosmetic surgery into a beauty following a car accident, formerly unattractive Megan feels a bit overwhelmed as she returns to her performing arts high school in Baltimore and competes with her popular and naturally gorgeous sister for the lead role in a student production written by Megan's secret love. This was a good book, but completely unrealistic. (Not that that is necessarily a bad thing)I did find it entertaining though. The one thing this book got accurate though, is the spiteful and fickleness of people. This is the true message of the book. ( )
