Hundreds of dog-size, meat-eating dinosaurs suddenly perished 225 million years ago. Half a century ago, the bones of these Coelophysis were dug up in what is now Ghost Ranch, NM. In New Mexico, why did so many dinosaurs die at ghost ranch? The book was based off the scientific process. The paleontologist were finding out what happened to the dinosaurs. It provides great pictures throughout the whole book for visual representation. It is a great dinosaur book for this type of dinosaur; they examine each part of their body, while also explaining the scientific properties of the dinosaur. Their hypothesis was that they died from being trapped in the mud, but they tested it and that was not the case. The next hypothesis was that a volcano killed them from not being able to run away, but there were no silica bubbles found. They come up with many hypothesis until they find the correct answer. They decided that there was either to much water or to little water for them to survive. They are still studying to find better answers to their hypothesis. ( )

This book is a non-fiction and informational text, throughout the book it teaches the scientific method. In the book they are trying to figure out what killed the Coelophysis. They form a question and a list of hypothesis of what could have happened to the dinosaur. They then study each hypothesis to solve the scientific inquiry. ( )

The book is very educational and can serve a purpose to students on how the scientific method may work. It also shows the process that some scientists may follow to try and come to a conclusion of why things happen , in this case they were trying to figure out what killed the Coelophysis. The came went over through every situation, drowning in water, getting stuck in quick sand, poison, volcanic eruptions and meteors. It explains how they tried to test each hypothesis and deciding whether it was possible or not. ( )

Dinosaur Ghosts: The Mystery of Coelophysis by Douglas Henderson is about fossils that were found in Ghost Ranch in the 40s. This book is about all of the scientists hypothesis about how the dinosaurs all died. Each hypothesis they had they tested it out and did that over and over again until everything made sense. This is a good book to teach kids about the Scientific Method. It will help them see how the scientists were thinking and what they did. ( )

Dinosaur Ghosts: The Mystery of Coelophysis by Douglas Henderson is about some small fossils that are found at Ghost Ranch in 1947. The scientists wanted to know How the dinosaurs died, so they came up with a few hypothesis. The scientists tested their hypothesis with factual information and came up with the conclusion. The scientists think that they died from too little water to drink and then too much water from flooding and drowned. They believe this happened 200 years ago. This book would be a good introduction to studying about Ghost Ranch. ( )
