This polar bear travels around because he wants to see the world and how different it is form his homeland. He then comes to Egypt were he meets a the ruler and this kid is mean. But when sees the polar bear he learns to like him and they become good friends. Lovely illustrations and an absolutely fascinating premise - apparently there is archaeological evidence of a polar bear burial in ancient Egypt. The author has created a fantasy tale in which the bear drifts south on an iceberg and is captured by Egyptian sailors (possible), taken to the young Pharaoh who tames, befriends, and plays with him (not at all in keeping with the nature of polar bears! ... or that of pharaohs either, perhaps). I would have loved the story to be more plausible, because I'm sure that the actual facts (or at least a narrative that didn't force us to attempt to believe the unbelievable about polar bears) would have made a most amazing tale. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
