It's unbearable . . . The bird's perch is swinging to and fro and hitting me on the nose. I can see my eye in its little mirror. Unbearably weird . . . You have the foulest feet ever. There are flies for lunch. A goat swallows your opal. And you have lived before.

Quirky tales for Paul Jennings. These books got me through a few of my awkward years I tell you. Even kids in these stories is the underdog or the want you want to cheer for. There is often twists and turns in every story and he also has a way with coming up with a killer ending. For 7 to 13 year olds. ( )

Another fantastic and hilarious book written by the Australian author, Paul Jennings. The book contains many little stories combined in one thick fictional novel, each story includes a surprising twist, some are horrifically disgust and unbearable while other are just plain funny. Some little stories in the book include:Little Black Balls, Licked, Only Gilt, Nails etc. Every chapter of the book contains a new adventure, some involve smelly feet, licking fly swatters, goat droppings etc.
My all time favourite story is Licked. The small section of the book was is all about a school boy named Andrew and his father. His father was always a nice guy, but is bit strict about table manners. Using the principal's visit for dinner to his advantage, Andrew to embarrass his father in a gross manner; but licking a fly swatter.

Reading the book put forward many bizarre questions; Where do you run when your body is covered in toenails? Would you go as far as licking bits of flies off a fly swatter just to irk your parents? Could smelly feet put people to sleep?
But overall the book is very interesting and entertaining for all ages, it is a real page turner and readers will definitely keep on reading to see what surprise ending awaits.

These are some of the awesome stories in the book, each as bizarre as the other, if not more. Really a page turner and readers will definitely keep on reading to see what suprise ending awaits.

Read it when I was just a kid but hey, no one says adults can't have fun and a good laugh! ( )
