Definitely YA fic, a lot of "boy crazies" and not exactly what I was hoping for (another commenter made a reference to adult/YA crossovers, and I agree, this one doesn't work for that audience). I would definitely recommend it to an actual young adult, but it just doesn't work for this knitter in her 30s. ( ) Scottie has gone boy-crazy. All her friend have or have had boyfriends and she feels left out. Unfortunately, when she likes a guy, she kind of goes crazy, which, generally, boys don't like. How can she manage to stay sane around the new guy who's moved into her apartment building? This is a sweet YA title with good friendships, age-appropriate life lessons and a lot of knitting. Although, I don't know how Scottie and her friends are affording all the crazy-expensive yarn they talk about in the book! Scottie's getting the whole boy thing now, but I liked the way Ms. Lenhard has the girls work through their relationships - figuring out who they are without giving up their whole selves to the boys in their lives. It's a good lesson for any woman to get at any age. I also enjoyed the way the girls hang together - even though they disagree or are sometimes less loyal than they should be, their friendship makes them stronger than they would be alone. Ms. Lenhard has some great things to say to young women. For the first half of the book, Scottie obsesses continuously over getting a boyfriend. For the second half of the book, Scottie obsesses continuously over having and keeping a boyfriend. If even her friends are annoyed with her constant whining ("I'm getting a little tired of your diva act" says Amanda), how can innocent readers be expected to put up with it? Is this the 21st century? Why does a young woman "need" a guy as some kind of fashion accessory? There are some seriously distorted values and priorities here. The patterns are not well presented either. Ever since about 1920, it has been customary to provide photos so the knitter knows what to expect from the project before investing hours of time. Not in this book. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
