Despite that, I ended up falling in love with the characters. ( ) I actually enjoyed this book more than I expected as a Christian mystery. I liked the characters, and I enjoyed the community that they lived in together. The Special Ops veteran with PTSD was a bit more unconventional in his actions that I would have imagined could work in real life, but I liked him...and the other characters as well, and so I enjoyed the book in spite of myself. Wayne has a history that has caused him to disconnect. He has turned away from "religion" ever since he was young and his father who was a pastor force fed him the scriptures. After many life changes that leave him reeling, he comes to help out at a retirement facility where his sister is on staff. The retirement center has been scammed and Wayne is going to see if he can get to the bottom of it. What he finds along the journey, the twists and turns of events, of his heart, and the impact that others have on him and that he has on them will keep your heart racing in the suspense and leave you breathless.
