An Eighth Doctor Novel with Fitz and Anji. The TARDIS touches down in Bristol - so far so good, but it's not a Bristol that any of it's crew can recognise. The same districts are there - Totterdown, Hotwells, Bedminster, and Brunel's famous Suspension Bridge remains, but everything else has changed. The population is tiny, for one thing, ignorant, and suspicious of any attempts to understand what has brought them to this state. The decimated settlements protect themselves by paying armed bands to patrol the city. Trust the TARDIS to land right in the middle of one of them. Brushing themselves down after the ensuing fracas, the Doctor, Fitz and Anji find themselves befriending a servant girl who works in the house of the mysterious Malahyde, whose activities seem to be the source of the disturbances that have so changed the Bristol of 2003 from anything Anji ever knew. Confronting Malahyde in his timeless mansion, the Doctor realises that the anomalies are not confined to this world - something beyond is manipulating them, using human time for its own ends, trying to find a way to get in...
