Previous Convictions is a very personal look at the late 20th century Religious Society of Friends. It comments on the effects of increased liberalism, individualism and the "culture of silence" when trying to consider the transmission of Quaker faith and values. The model of the family of faith, the roles of teacher and prophet and the needs of young people are looked at in this book. In this 1997 Swarthmore lecture Christine Trevett offers a very personal view of late twentieth century Quakerism. She asks (quoting A&Q 3) whether we try to set aside times of quiet for openness to the Holy Spirit? The question frames her concern about the rise of liberalism and individualism in modern day Quakerism and the potential they have for influencing the faithful transmission of Quaker faith and values-a potential she argues that is weakened by sincere and regular listening to the inner spirit. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
