The Arthur books are a serious that tell of the struggles that a boy named Arthur faces with school, siblings, and life in general. This particular story is particularly funny, which will help gain the students attention. Arthur winds up babysitting the Terrible Tibble Twins, which is just as difficult as it sounds. They are up to their usual crazy antics and Arthur is having a tough time. Until he figure out how to get them to settle down, he decides to tell a scary story. The story is describe in vivid detail with many adjectives, which is the content that I think I would use this book to address in a 2nd grade classroom. I would explain that adjectives are words that are used to describe or modify a noun (person, place, or thing). As I read the story, I would pause periodically to have students find adjectives within the text. At the end, I would have them pick objects within the classroom and have them list adjectives to describe it. The students would be encouraged to explore what the object looked like, smelled like, felt like, and sounded like. ( ) Some kids never grow out of the terrible twos and that goes double for the Tibble twins. When D.W. volunteers for Arthur to babysit Tommy and Timmy Tibble, Arthur is in for a long night of chaos. Luckily, he's able to calm the twins down after a few mishaps (fifty pick up and a game of hide and seek) with a scary story until Mrs. Tibble comes home. This was a funny story. Once again, Marc Brown makes Arthur very entertaining and relatable. As the oldest sibling, I had to babysit quite often and it was never fun. I think reading a story to my sisters would have been great for all of us. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
