Overall I think that Wendelin Van Darren did a great job of capturing Evangeline's lust for the perfect kiss but while reading I felt it was redundant and would have liked more closure in the ending. ( )

Evageline has felt out of control of her life ever since her parents' divorce. When she reads about the crimson kiss in a romance novel, she decides to take control and seek out the crimson kiss by kissing anyone who seems as though he might be able to deliver. Unfortunately, her tactics have unforeseen consequences. Not only does she gain a reputation she doesn't want, she also hurts the feelings of some of the people that are closest to her. Evangeline has to truly look inside herself to repair the damage she has done. Doing so gives her insight into her father, who is also trying to undo the damage he has done. This is a fun, light read. Evangeline's inability to see the consequences of her actions requires suspension of disbelief, but in the end, the book deals with these issues in a realistic and compelling way. ( )

Sixteen year-old Evangeline is on a a mission to find the perfect kiss to go along with her new look. However, the consequences of randomly kissing classmates causes her trouble, especially when rumors begin and her best friend becomes mad at her.

Evageline is struggling with her parents' recent separation due to her father's unfaithfulness. She has a lot of anger towards him and refuses to talk to him. With all of the new changes occurring in her life over her parents' separation, she tries for a new physical appearance and attitude. When she discovers her mother's romance novel collection, she becomes obsessed with the idea of finding a perfect and passionate "crimson kiss." Like many adolescents, Evangeline is exploring her identity and what she wants out of life. She also continues to struggle with forgiving her father and finally begins to start the forgiveness process when her own best friend won't forgive her when she kisses her crush. Evangeline finally realizes that her actions have consequences and that she is not acting like her true self. She eventually realizes that wearing her mothers' hip clothes, wearing too much makeup, and going after the unattainable kiss are not really what she wants or who she is. This book is written for young adult women and Evangeline is a character that they will be able to relate to, as she is discovering her true self and is a likeable character. She is witty and has flaws, making her a fun but realistic character. This book is definitely a fun and light read!

It's funy, cute, a page-turner! [It was compelling] when all of the boys start talking bad about Evangeline for her kissing addiction. I wish she would have fallen in love and found the perfect crimson kiss! AHS/JH

Imagine how life might change if you were cleaning under your mother's bed and discovered her stash of steamy romance novels and her latest self-help book. That is just what happens to Evangeline Logan.

Evangeline can sort of understand the presence of this collection of reading material since her father recently divorced her mother in favor of another love interest. Forgiving her father is something Evangeline has not even considered. She has watched the hell her mother has gone through and wants nothing more than to move on.

Normally, Evangeline wouldn't be interested in reading trashy novels, but one caught her eye and promptly changed her life. Now Evangeline is in search of "the crimson kiss." The way it is so romantically described, she knows her life will not be complete until she experiences it.

The problem starts when Evangeline begins feeling the need to kiss everyone. The fascination with finding this wonderful kiss leads her into some pretty horrible kissing situations. There are kisses with way too much pressure, kisses with more than enough moisture, and kisses that totally miss their mark. For Evangeline, this kissing experiment seems like a bit of fun, but when she mistakenly kisses her best friend's crush, she realizes that things have gotten terribly out of control.

Wendelin Van Draanen, author of SWEAR TO HOWDY and FLIPPED, will have readers laughing aloud when they read about Evangeline. But CONFESSIONS OF A SERIAL KISSER goes farther than kissing and telling; it offers a serious side as Evangeline learns how to handle what life has thrown at her. ( )
