Very preachy love inspired romance. Rona, after issues with her family, moves to the only happy place she remembers from her childhood - a little island town in Michigan. Businessman Nick, meets Rona, when she's waitressing. He's a widower, with a belligerent teen son, Gary, who is acting out and not following God. He hires Rona to be the housekeeper, and works on getting her to become a believer again. And they both work on getting Gary to become a believer again too. ( )

Running from her past and hiding from her family, Rona Meyers heads for one of the few places she can remember being happy as a child - the Les Cheneaux Islands in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. She's searching for a place to be safe, somewhere to find peace and a new start.

Widower Nick Thornton is looking for something too - most immediately a housekeeper. But more importantly, a way to reconnect with his teenage son, and answers to his own doubts about the circumstances surrounding his wife's apparently accidental death.

Is it chance that brings Rona and Nick together, or is God taking a hand? Rona has doubts, but begins to rediscover her faith as she interacts with Nick, his son, and other members of the local Christian community.

Not a badly written book - I'm guessing Martin has a teenager or two in her life, as Nick's son is very believable! ( )
