Mr. Lincoln is the beloved elementary school principal and Eugene is one of the older boys, an angry bully and poor student. By observing Eugene's interest in birds Mr. Lincoln is able to connect to the troubled boy. ( )

When Mr. Lincoln discovers that Eugene, the school bully, knows a lot about birds, he uses this interest to help Eugene overcome his intolerance.

This is a good example of a realistic fiction because everything in the book can happen in our real life. The book talks about an awesome principal who has his own way of educating. He changed a boy who did not respect others by finding his interest and using a metaphor to show the boy the beauty of diversity. This book is very suitable for teaching first to sixth graders black history and bullying. The media is watercolor. ( )
