Sock Monkey is excited when he finds out that he has been nominated for an Oswald Award, in the category of best supporting toy, but then he learns that in order to attend the award ceremony he will have to take a bath! Horrified at the prospect but determined to go to the ceremony, he turns to his friends and enlists their aid in getting clean. Although the ceremony doesn't go quite as he'd hoped, Sock Monkey finds that he gets lots of appreciation for his fresh new appearance... The perfect story for bath-shy children, Sock Monkey Takes a Bath was originally published in 2003 under the title Sock Monkey Goes to Hollywood: A Star Is Bathed, before being reprinted in this new edition in 2015, with updated title. I'm not sure if any of the content has been updated, but I found the version I read fairly entertaining. Of course, I didn't grow up playing with sock monkey toys, so I had no sentimental reaction to Cece Bell's story, but I did think it would make a good selection for younger children who enjoy silly stories and humor, or who have sock monkeys themselves. Sock Monkey Goes To Hollywood: A Star Is Bathed by Cece Bell was her debut book. It's the story of a stinky sock monkey whose friends stage an intervention. Sock Monkey can't go to the Awards Ceremony unless he takes a bath. This book is for anyone who has a kid with a special toy that gets taken everywhere. It can be really tough to wrestle away the favorite toy to get it washed. Here as Sock Monkey is a toy and all his friends are too, it's also a tale of why it's important to bathe, much in the same way as I Don't Want to Take a Bath by Julie Skyes. My sister in law actually used a duplicate version to swap out a clean one for the one that needed washing. That idea worked until the eye of one of the toys got scratched, thus making the two distinguishable from each other. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

It is a good chapter book which tells a story of a toy, sock monkey, who took a bath before going to an Oscar ceremony. As a toy, he is afraid of taking a shower; but with the help of friends, he finally did it. The characters inside the book look cute and the dialogues were shown in an interesting way, It can be given 5 stars.
