Most of the cartoons have been published in the Chronicle of Higher Ed. or similar. Many college professors probably have one or two on their doors. Anyhow, the humor catches the subtleties of academia. Even though a couple of details are getting dated, the humor overall is still relevant and amusing. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
"As a chronicler of the small negotiations that are the stuff of mainstream academic life, Carole Cable absolutely can't be topped." --Paul Strohm, former editor, Academe Always on target but never mean-spirited, Carole Cable' cartoons zero in on the realities and absurdities that confront higher education today. Whether it' the professor who tells a student, "No, really, I am pleased that you called me on your cellular phone from your BMW to tell me your paper will be late," or the publisher who quips, "If we published many books like this, Professor Haskens, we'd perish," Cable captures the quirks and foibles of academia with an insider' sharp eye and sly sense of humor.Long a staple on office doors and bulletin boards, over one hundred of these cartoons are now available in Cable on Academe, the first published collection of Carole Cable' work. Ranging from such thorny issues as multiculturalism and shrinking budgets to the everyday trials of getting a good photocopy out of a bad machine, Cable' cartoons will keep academia in perspective for everyone involved--students, faculty, administrators, parents, and even outside critics.A regular cartoonist in the Chronicle of Higher Education since 1987, Carole Cable has also published cartoons in such national magazines as Audubon, Natural History, and Writer' Digest. She lives in Austin, Texas, where she is the assistant for library development and publications at the University of Texas at Austin General Libraries.
