These absolutely beautiful paintings by Linda Wingerter are full-double page sized and completely enveloping. Each picture is accompanied by a bit of Seeger's lyrics, around the theme of 'one'. There is one grain of sand, one lonely star, one drop of water, one snowflake, one leaf of grass, and always again returning to one grain of sand. My favorite paintings are: The Taj Mahal-esque where the people at the bottom of the stairs are wading in to water, and the next page, which is a close up of those two. The reflections of the buildings are really wonderful and delicate, flowing and sweet. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

This story is a lullaby written by a father to his child. The story is repetitive and has some rhyming words. It takes the reader on a journey across the world. The illustrations/paintings are very colorful, but also soothing. It gives the reader a quick peek at different cultures and cities.
I enjoyed the repetitive verse and how the paintings show people doing everyday tasks. I like how the author and the artist compare bedtime for children and animals from around the world.
Extension Activity:
Listen to quiet music (maybe with the lights off). Examples could be- classical, Native American, nature noises (rain, ocean, etc.) ( )
