I liked this book because it showed at the end that it is alright to have things that make you secure and that dreams can be happy things, not just nightmares. I liked that the father made the comment that he use to sail with the bear when he was a boy and it gives the reader the illusion that this bear really did come to life in the boy and fathers dreams.
Talking about dreams and what children make out of their dreams could be interesting. I do not really know how to tie this into instruction other than a reading lesson and talking about relationships between parents and children. What questions and responses would be asked and given by students if asked what they thought of sleeping with a bear and what adventures have they ever been on in dreams.
