This is the story of a young boy who patiently awaits the birth of his new baby brother or sister. Written in a narrative style, this biography from the perspective of the child takes the reader through the child’s experience and journey of a new baby in the family. At first the boy is very eager and excited to meet his new sibling, but once the baby is born he faces many difficulties with not getting enough attention from his parents. He soon realizes that having a baby in the family is no fun, but then from a little reassurance from his parents he becomes quite excited again and grows to love the baby.
Comments (opinions/arguments):
This sweet story of a new sibling can be very relatable to many children going through the same situation. I really liked that it was written in a narrative style from the young boy’s perspective because I feel that would make this book much more enjoyable for children. I think the real life photographs really enhance the story and bring it to life. The central message of this story is to help children who are going through the same situation and are expecting a new sibling to be born. This story will help them to understand that it’s an exciting time to have a new sibling in the family and that even though they may seem to hog all the attention, they are still loved and cherished just as much.
