This big board book is a nice introduction to the concepts of numbers, colors, shapes, animals, opposites and word-object relationships. Vivid colors, photos and simple lead questions make the objects very inviting for exploration and discussion. The down side is that the book lacks consistency in that some of the pages have lift flaps for every object while other pages have a few randomly selected objects with flaps. For the very young, that can be a bit frustrating. Despite the lack of consistency, it is, overall, an average to above average introductory book for pre-readers. ( )
