I love this book and this series. At first, it was a little hard to get into, but it gets better later on. It definitely mirrors the Bible, which I like to some extent, and I think it is different enough that it is still good. I feel bad for those who did not enjoy it and hope they will persevere and be able to enjoy it. It is about a boy named Owen who lives at a bookstore with his father. It all starts when a mysterious man gives him a very important book. ( )

A bit wordy at first, this book is about a boy who has some sort of destiny. Sadly, you don't really learn much at the end of this first book in a trilogy. There's some monsters, a book with some serious meaning, and a few big baddies. I did really get into the adventure of the book and really enjoyed reading it. I just wish I had more of a clue as to what the big quest will be. ( )
