This book would be a great way to start a discussion about spiders. I would teach students facts about spiders. I would teach students how to use a web. I would have them write spiders in the middle and have branches with various facts about them. Summary: Miss Frizzle and her class are studying spiders, so she takes them on a trip in the Magic School Bus to visit her friend Charlotte. When they get to the spooky house, Charlotte isn't home, but the bus transforms to a moth and goes flying about and they end up in a barn with all sorts of spiders and get caught in a web. The spider, however, doesn't eat the moth bus, and the students and Miss Frizzle get out and cut their way free from the web. When the moth bus transforms back to a regular bus, they find that Charlotte is back and they go explore her new spider museum. Genre Critique: This is an example of a fantasy/informational book as it teaches all sorts of facts on spiders while carrying out a story that is completely impossible in it's events but is interesting and fun so you don't focus on the fact that it really could never take place in real life. Plot: The story line follows the traditional form of rising action, climax, falling action and resolution, which works well with this book because the class gets into a sticky situation, find a clever way out of it, and learn a lot along the way. Media: Ink and Watercolor Genre: This book I would classify as both fantasy and informational. It fits within fantasy because the bus shrinks to be the size of a moth and gets caught in a spider's web which is not able to happen in real life, but the author makes this believable. It fits within informational, because on every page there is a special section with simply factual information about spiders. Setting: I would classify the setting as integral becaue they start out in a classroom, but they end up inside a web and this story wouldn't make sense without knowing that integral piece. Ms. Frizzle's class is learning about spiders. They take a trip to meet a spider expert, but she's missing. Then the bus turns into a moth and the class gets a very close look at some spiders and their webs. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

This would be a very useful tool if the class were talking about insects or arachnids.
