Whitey Herzog, former manager for the St. Louis Cardinals (and other teams), who got them a World Series win in 1982 and to the Series in 1985 and 1987, is one of the most intelligent and innovative baseball minds around. He is also an old-fashioned straight-from-the-shoulder type of guy, and a colorful and interesting baseball writer. This book is a biography and something of a primer on how to play baseball as it should be. A little self-serving, but probably deservedly so, the book also impresses me with how prescient Herzog was in many ways in 1986 when he wrote this book. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Filled with stories of such baseball legends as Casey Stengel, Mickey Mantle and Satchell Paige, this compulsively readable autobiography of Whitey Herzog does not shy away from controversial opinions, but offers Whitey's own views on drug problems, troubles of the game, and managing theories. 16 pages of illustrations.
