The book has vocabulary easy and perfect for new readers. It's a small story for younger children just beginning to read chapter books. Little Horse falls into a river and is carried away from his home and from his mother. He has a frightening adventure, and along the way he (and the reader) realizes for the first time that he is *little* (about the size of a squirrel). A sweet, short, fast-moving beginning chapter book. Sweet pictures by David McPhail. This book follows the journey of Little Horse as he is separated from his mother. He is swept up by a river and then chased by a hawk until he finds refuge in a cave. Up until this point I did not realize that Little Horse was not a regular horse. He then gets chased by a strange and very large animal, a dog, and it then that I realize that he is a very tiny horse! A man ends up finding him and taking him home and taking care of him. It ends with Little Horse resting in his new home and thinking of how he is going to find his mother again. The vocabulary was easy and perfect for a new reader although I am not sure if children now would enjoy this story. It seems a little dated to me as do the illustrations. It does contain excitement, therefore may keep their attention but I do feel that the appeal to the story would be limited. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
