This book was very lengthy but enjoyable to read. My favorite part of this book was the illustrations. They were so detailed and colorful. After i was done reading each page i would take a few seconds to review the pictures. I like how they were playful with the text on the page was."Upward they soared" was curved towards the sky. I thought this was fitting because Pig and Cow were going up towards the sky. The main message of this book is never give up on your dreams and goals and hard work pays off. ( )

This wonderful story about a cow with dreams to fly is very entertaining. The illustrations are beautiful and add so much to the story. ( )

Almost as cute as the first Clorinda book, and I enjoyed how Clorinda doesn't give up here, and continues to work with her friends to acheive her dream of flying. Clorinda has a very supportive friend in Len! :) ( )

This is a book about a cow named Clorinda that wants to fly. She tried her hardest to make things to help her fly. She made a plane, a helicopter and a rocket but none of those really worked. She then made a hot air balloon. She traveled all over the world with her friend Hop the pig. When she went to England, she remembered her friend Len that had helped her make the balloon and wished that he was there to enjoy the time that they spent with the Queen. She then asked if they could take some of the tea back that the Queen had and she said yes. Once they got back, they gave Len the tea and sat under the stars thinking and dreaming about what they would do next. This just makes me think that you can do whatever you put your mind to and you should never give up if it's something that you really desire to do. This should be a motto for some kids nowadays.

Robert Kinerk, Clorinda Takes Flight,(2007). NY: Simon and Schuster.

Clorinda is a lovely, adorable cow who dreams of flying, and with the help of her friends pig and Lenny, they try building a plane, rocket, and helicopter out of household parts; but all those attempts fail. Finally, they attempt building a hot air balloon - Clorinda and the pig successfully take off, but unfortunately Lenny is forgotten on the ground. Clorinda and the pig are amazed with as they travel the sky past New York and on to London, where they land and meet the Queen. The illustrations closely follow the plot and the characters. The reader will get a good sense of Clorinda's desire to fly and her sense of adventure, and the use of warm, bright colors and soft, textured lines allow the reader to connect to the plot, setting, and characters very easily. The jacket cover is inviting, yet can be interpreted as a spoiler when the reader reads about the first three attempts of flight. The story effectively conveys the messages of friendship, team work, and perseverance. Great read-aloud for ages 5-8. ( )
