However she sacrifices herself in the process as the Thunder God forbids her to tell of the spring. She decides to disobey him at her peril in order to provide water for her people. In return for her good deed, a man helps her trick the God using her hair on a statue. Her long hair grows back and the village forever has a supply of water. ( ) This Chinese legend about a heroic girl who risks her life to save her villiage from drought it beautifully told and illustrated. When Lei-gong stumbles across a secret spring that belongs to the thunder-god, she must decide weather to save her community and risk death at the hands of the thunder-god, or save her own life. She decides to save her village and because of her goodness, she is helped to trick the thunder-god into thinking that she has killed herself .
