Had I known about this book when I was in grade 1-3, I would have been extremely happy. I am familiar with about half the folklore of the compilation as they often accompanied hand and jump rope games when I was young. Those that I am not familiar with, I’m sure I would have loved to learn while on the playground.
Until now, I did not know these rhymes had roots in African American Folklore. This is a wonderful compilation as it assigns African American children right heritages while sharing the pieces with everyone.

This book would be good to use during poetry or when studying about African American Culture. I think student will like it because of the interesting rhymes in it. ( )
