The writing was decent, but I'm sure glad I didn't read this before my dad was in the hospital so much last year; I would never have gone home to sleep. Even though he brought to light the horrors of medical training, and the untrained hands into which we are entrusting our loved ones, he still struck me as just another arrogant physician. Thank heavens for nurses, is my conclusion. ( ) Eh. This memoir of a young doctor is more a confession of Jauhar's ambivalence about the profession of medicine than an in-depth look at the process of becoming a doctor. It's useful, I guess, to know that doctors are as likely to be unhappily punching the clock as any other worker, but Jauhar's writing isn't much sharper than his doctoring. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Jauhar recounts his days and nights in residency at a busy hospital in New York City, a trial that led him to question the quality of medical care today. His beautifully written memoir explains that modern medicine can be a humane science after all. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
