Limpy the cane toad's relatives are being killed by humans that hate them and Limpy wants to go on a quest to find out why and change their minds. So he heads north to find the petrol station where he finds some underpants to disguise himself as a tropical butterfly. When this doesn't work he decides to become an Olympic Games mascot because everyone loves them. So he hitches a ride on a truck going south. He meets lots of other failed mascots like snakes and spiders who decide to have their own Olympic Games - except they don't want toads because they are too ugly. But Limpy never gives up and in the end finds a way to help his relatives stay alive. ( )

I read the book Toad Rage by Morris Gleitzman. I chose this book because it looked funny and it was short. It was a very funny book. I enjoyed reading it and recomend it to students who like toads. The book was very detailed.

This book was mainly about Limmpy and his cousin trying to figure out why people hate cane toads. They went through some pretty hard times to find out why they hated them which made the book really good because it kept you on the edge of your seat.
I think people would really enjoy reading this book. ( )

Or will he and Goliath end up flattened on the roadway along with their relatives?

Limpy is a lovable little character, and young readers will find it easy to root for him as he tries to prove to humans that they should not hate him. Although there are a few instances where other cane toads are killed, it should not be upsetting for older children because the scenes are written with wit and humor. As well as being a cute story, Toad Rage helps children learn about the food chain and why each living thing has a place in our world. Children will also learn more about Australia, including new vocabulary words that are defined in the back of the book.

If kids like Toad Rage (and they almost certainly will), they’ll be happy to know that Gleitzman has come out with a sequel, Toad Heaven, that should be just as charming. Recommended for children who like animals (especially toads, reptiles or bugs) and those who enjoy adventure stories.
