The Two Cars is about an old car and a new car. The new car believes he is the fastest car on the road because he is new. The older car thinks he is better. They decide to race to see who was the best. They are met with a policeman, critters on the road, and even a car junk yard. Both cars end up in the garage where they started. However the journey to and from reveals who the winner really is.

I personally liked this book. It is an older book and I feel the parts that are described on the older car might not be understood. Explanation might need to be given prior to reading this book.

I would apply this book to the class room by having the children create their new car and their old car. Then we could talk about how far a mile is. I could show them a video of older cars back in the 1920's. Then maybe on a Friday afternoon show the movie "Cars" ( )
